Our continued growth and increasingly nationwide scope of work has created an opening for a new Senior Program Manager to lead our team focused on cutting-edge opportunities to increase equitable access to electric mobility. This team’s work includes electrifying farm equipment; increasing access to micromobility; accelerating school bus electrification; supporting e-mobility in lower-income countries; and building a post-oil transportation finance system.The Senior Program Manager will provide leadership to this small but growing team and lead Forth’s efforts to build robust programs of work in these emerging areas.

The successful candidate will be expected to wear many hats, work independently, and play an active role in the organization’s development.


Programs Team Management and DEI (50%). The Senior Program Manager manages a small team of staff responsible for delivering projects and programs around the country and supports the Programs Director in team vision and restructure. This person is expected to coach and support staff in their work, encourage their career development, and drive outstanding performance and program impact in support of Forth’s strategic plan

·Serve as an industry strategic support to the Programs Director in internal department projects 

·Provide guidance and direction for direct reports, ensuring that projects are completed on time, on budget, and efficiently managed

·Lead a team of employees and contractors to support their initiatives and project milestones; create an inspiring team environment

·Manage continuous improvement and performance evaluation processes; including goal setting, annual reviews, and professional development

·Actively promote and support racial diversity, equity, and inclusion in Forth’s workplace culture and practices, program operations, and interactions with all stakeholders

·Participate in board and committee meetings, as appropriate

Program Management (30%). The Senior Program Manager effectively manages programs and projects that expand access and collective knowledge of alternative forms of electrification transportation.

·Support the team in project management best practices implementation such as project development, budgeting, management, and evaluation 

·Develop and expand projects to advance Forth’s strategic plan

·Directly manage projects as needed

·Collaborate closely with cities, transportation companies, electric utilities, nonprofits, and other partners to develop and deliver high-quality programming

·Develop strategies and advocate to share best practices and scale their adoption

·Promote a high level of coordination between projects and programs and other Forth teams; address areas of potential conflict

Business Development (20%)The Senior Program Manager works with other staff to develop new project ideas and cultivate new sources of funding from governments, foundations, transportation companies, and other partners.

·Maintain Forth’s position as a thought leader in the team’s areas of work. 

·Speak and write on behalf of Forth for public events, conferences, and publications.

·Maintain knowledge of current industry trends and best practices to identify emerging opportunities, threats, and needs

·Develop and refine new project ideas to carry out objectives within the team’s focus area

·Draft proposals and support staff in preparing RFP responses in collaboration with Forth’s business development team

·Communicate any updates or feedback from clients or partners toForth’s Leadership Team as needed

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years of experience in transportation, energy, or related field (additional experience may be substituted for the degree requirement)
  • Willingness and ability to travel, occasionally overnight and potentially internationally; valid passport or willingness to obtain upon hire


  • Experience working for a nonprofit organization with a mission-driven staff and board
  • Experience working for at least one of these key stakeholders: electric vehicle manufacturers, electric utilities, local governments, consulting firms, or major transportation companies
  • Existing relationships in the electrification transportation industry
  • Subject matter expertise in a relevant area such as school buses, micromobility, farm equipment, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple conflicting projects and meet deadlines while maintaining a healthy work-life balance
  • Advanced degree in a relevant field


Starting salary range is $72,500-$87,500 commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits include four weeks paid vacation annually, fully paid health, dental and vision insurance for the employee and all dependents, and an employer retirement contribution after six months (no match required.)
